The Peach Pull of 2026

AENN

In Sutter County, California on a nine mile drive down S. George Washington Blvd., you will see seven fields of trees that have been pulled from the ground. This devastating scene is a result of the Del Monte foods Chapter 11 filing.

Nine million dollars will come from the Federal Government to assist local farmers

whose contracts have been cancelled. What effect will this have on our food

security? How long before replacement crops will be productive? Will the land

and farming assets be sold to a foreign country, who is not part of the United States

compact? The long-term result of this devastating loss remains to be seen. For

now, what we see is too many trees lying on the ground.
