OROVILLE, Calif. — The Department of Water Resources (DWR) is set to begin using the Oroville Dam’s main spillway for flood control releases Monday morning at 10 a.m.
With ongoing wet weather in the Feather River basin increasing runoff to Lake Oroville, the DWR said these federally required releases are designed to provide ongoing protection against widespread flooding to downstream communities.
Total releases into the Feather River are expected to reach 35,000 cubic feet per second by 2 p.m. Monday. The DWR said the releases are conducted under the Water Control Manual guidelines established by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
