"DOJ" reviews handling of mortgage fraud probe involving Schiff
The investigation shifts focus to Justice Department officials leading politically charged mortgage fraud inquiries targeting Democratic lawmakers.
DOJ Summoned Bish Under False Pretense
Chris Bish was Summoned to Maryland on November 19, 2025 to testify before the grand jury at 9:00 am. It looks from the article that Chris Bish did not testify before the grand jury but was instead questioned by DOJ agents about the investigative tactics of Trump administration officials Ed Martin and Bill Pulte

The Justice Department is reviewing the handling of a mortgage fraud investigation involving California Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff, with scrutiny on individuals allegedly acting under direction of Trump administration officials Ed Martin and Bill Pulte.
Federal investigators in Maryland recently questioned Christine Bish, a California real estate agent and Republican congressional candidate, about her communications with Martin and Pulte after she publicly promoted mortgage fraud allegations against Schiff.

The big picture: Bish said she expected to discuss her findings on Schiff but was instead questioned about her possible coordination with Martin and Pulte; she denied any such communications.
Authorities appear to be investigating the investigators, shifting focus from Schiff to the conduct of those pursuing the probe, raising concerns about politically motivated investigations.
This development adds to criticism surrounding Martin and Pulte’s aggressive efforts to investigate Trump political opponents for alleged mortgage fraud, which have involved questionable tactics and overhyped claims.

Go deeper: Ethics officials at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), led by Pulte, have been probing whether Pulte and his associates improperly accessed mortgage data for accused individuals.
Robert Bowes, formerly of the Trump administration and linked to Pulte, repeatedly contacted Bish, urging her to investigate mortgages of various people and to feed information to national news outlets
Apart from Schiff, investigations are ongoing into New York AG Letitia James (who was recently charged and pleaded not guilty) and Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook; Pulte also referred Rep. Eric Swalwell for investigation – all Democrats who deny the allegations.
The Maryand-led probe into Schiff’s mortgages is active but its current status is unclear; calls to reopen or advance investigations stem from politically charged efforts by Trump-aligned officials.
Zoom out: Bish initially submitted her research to congressional ethics officials with no result, later re-submitting it to FHFA and FBI after Pulte called for mortgage fraud tips; despite a voicemail from Pulte, she never spoke directly with him.
Subpoenas issued to Bish seek all communications related to Pulte, Martin, and anyone claiming to work on their behalf, reflecting a growing inquiry into the internal handling and possible politicization of these probes.
Martin leads the Justice Department’s “Weaponization Working Group” and was appointed special prosecutor after bipartisan opposition stalled his nomination as D.C. U.S. attorney due to his limited legal experience and divisive political stances.
Pulte, 37, a homebuilding industry heir, has aggressively pushed Trump’s agenda at the FHFA, publicly attacking political opponents and making controversial proposals, including promoting a 50-year mortgage that faced widespread backlash.
Pulte has also removed several senior executives and ethics officials at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac amid investigations into unauthorized use of mortgage data connected to criminal referrals against people like Cook.
