Michael Proper is a founding member of Digital World and founder and chairman of The Clear Companies. Over more than 31 years, his work has evolved from building and scaling centralized technology companies to developing decentralized systems that place greater ownership, control, and opportunity in the hands of individuals.
His experience gave him a firsthand understanding of both the strengths and limitations of centralized technology. While these systems helped organizations grow, they also concentrated control over identity, information, infrastructure, and economic participation. This realization led him to dedicate the next chapter of his career to building decentralized alternatives.
Mr. Proper founded The Clear Companies to build, support, and service the technologies, organizations, and infrastructure needed for this transition. Its work includes supporting Digital World and the LIFE System.
Digital World provides decentralized governance and shared digital infrastructure through which individuals, communities, businesses, nonprofits, and public institutions can collaborate with greater transparency, autonomy, accountability, and trust.

The LIFE System brings this infrastructure into everyday life. Its primary interface, the LIFE App, is being developed as Personal Life Infrastructure through which Members can manage their identity, communications, credentials, agreements, payments, property, health, travel, and other important aspects of life. Together, Digital World and LIFE are intended to create an open, privacy-centered ecosystem in which people own and control their information and choose the organizations and services they work with.
Throughout his career, Mr. Proper has founded, scaled, advised, and supported numerous technology ventures. He was an early contributor to the development of the Managed Service Provider sector and built an organization that achieved the industry’s top global ranking. He founded DirectPointe, later acquired by Hewlett-Packard, and contributed to the growth of Jive Communications and Calculated Research & Technology.
Today, Mr. Proper brings talented people together around clear, measurable, and transparent goals. His mission is to help establish digital infrastructure that every person can trust, every organization can connect to, and no single organization can permanently control.
