I drove to Long Beach and sat down with Chad Bianco. The Riverside County Sheriff. The Republican leading in the polls for California Governor 2026. No handlers. No script.
Just me and the sheriff at a table for almost an hour. And within the first five minutes he told me someone is going to jail. He named names. He called the California Attorney General an embarrassment to law enforcement. He said he has the power as governor to control the DOJ agenda and direct prosecutions. He said the people who stole the $24 billion in homeless funds, the EDD fraud money, all of it — they’re getting arrested, handcuffed, and prosecuted.
Then he broke down why gas is heading to $10 a gallon and how he’s removing every regulation killing California’s oil production on day one. He told me it costs $160,000 in permits before you can hammer a single nail to build a house — and $140,000 of that in Turlock. He explained why Newsom purposely didn’t fund Prop 36 after 70% of California voted for it.
And then he told me something about CalPERS that nobody is talking about. Sacramento is forcing CalPERS to invest your pension money into green projects that lose money. They won’t let them invest in oil, defense, or anything that actually makes a return. Your retirement is shrinking because of politics. He also took shots at Steve Hilton’s golden slate, called it a manufactured political strategy, and said it wasn’t even Hilton’s idea — it was David Serpa’s.
