Sheriff Kory Honea Reveals What Brought Him to Order the Evacuation of Over 200,000 People During the Oroville Dam Disaster On the night of February 12, 2017 as the Oroville Dam was over topping at the emergency spillway while the main spillway was closed due to the failure of the main spillway. Unknown by Sheriff Kory Honea was the emergency spillway was in failure mode and was about to go into full failure which would release a 30 foot wall of water and empty the the top one third of the one of the largest dams in the world onto the numerous towns below thus killing as many as 200,000 people.
