Camp Pendleton has since announced that the main gate has been reopened. It is unclear why the driver attempted to gain access to the military base.

The military base, located in Oceanside, California, issued an alert of the temporary closure of the gate after the incident. Camp visitors were advised to access the Del Mar Gate as an alternative.
