Days after returning from a trip to New York, Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to head to Texas.

Newsom is scheduled to speak at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin on Saturday afternoon. A “One-on-One with Gavin Newsom” is the title of his event at 3:30 p.m. central time, according to the festival’s program. MSNBC’s Alex Wagner will moderate the discussion.

“The California governor on what the nation’s most populous state can teach the other 49—including this one,” the event description reads.

The festival, which started Thursday and ends Saturday, features dozens of high-profile speakers, including Democratic and Republican lawmakers from across the country, journalists, and former NBA star Chris Bosh.

A spokesperson for the governor said his appearance in Texas is a campaign event, not state business.

Newsom, who is up for reelection for governor of California in November, recently used campaign cash to put up a set of billboards in seven anti-abortion states, including Texas, to raise awareness about California’s new abortion website for in and out-of-state people.

The governor has also used campaign money to run a television ad in Florida encouraging residents there to come to California in an attack against Governor Ron DeSantis and his policies on education and abortion. Newsom has challenged DeSantis to a televised debate.
