Reopen San Diego
October 22nd, 2021 San Diego, California City Hall In an effort to keep their jobs, San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officers and San Diego Fire Department (SDFD) firefighters teamed up to take a stand against the vaccine mandate. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria is giving city employees until December 1st to submit proof of vaccination or face termination.
SDPD currently has 500 unvaccinated and SDFD currently has 100 unvaccinated and the city has 200 unvaccinated non-sworn employees. How will Mayor Gloria ensure the safety of all citizens by terminating first responders? SDPD Sergeant Mat Randolph opened the event with a speech. 200 boots were donated by first responders to represent only a fraction of the nearly 600 first responders facing termination.
