California #2 in unemployment at 7.5%, Nevada rate is 7.7%.

California workers filed 75,800 initial claims for unemployment during the week that ended on Sept. 18, which was an increase of 24,200, or about triple the week of Sept. 11, the U.S. Labor Department reported on Thursday.  The total number of claims is the highest the first-time jobless filings have reached since the week ending on April 24 — nearly five months ago — when jobless claims totaled.  The increase of 24,200 claims is the largest one-week increase since April 3, when jobless filings jumped by 39,100 during the seven-day stretch.
