Two more counties joined the effort to create the New California State. At the New California State County Representative meeting held in Marysville, CA Riverside and Sacramento counties were certified by the representatives to join the ever increasing number of counties wanting to join the movement to create the 51st state in the Union.  With the addition of Riverside and Sacramento counties the total number of counties that are now certified is 17.

According to members of the New California County Representatives there are additional counties that will be brought in before the the end of December 2017.  Additional counties in include a long list of areas that many people would find surprising who want to start a new state.  Here is the list of counties awaiting certification: Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, San Joaquin, San Diego, Orange, Glenn, Tulare, San Benito, Calaveras, Amador, Tuolumne, Mariposa and Santa Barbara.  The list represents a back log of counties who have county chairs and  organizing committees who meet the standards for certification.  “It’s just a matter of getting the time to bring them aboard. It’s a nice problem to have” stated one of the representatives.

One issue that has delayed some counties from getting certified has been the fires that have ravaged large parts of California. First Sonoma was delayed and now it’s Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties who have had to put certification on hold.  In the case of Sonoma they would have been certified in October but the fires in that county diminished the number of people on the organizing committee from 7 to 1 overnight.  New California officials have been unable to make contact with 6 of the seven who were on the committee since the fires in Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties occurred in October.  Santa Barbara was to be certified this month but the committee members have been evacuated to Santa Cruz.

Other counties who have been in contact with New California State officials and who actively organizing and are expected to join the New California movement in January include: Shasta, Plumas, Colusa, Tehama, Lassen, Siskiyou and Alpine.
