Editorial: Assemblyman James Gallagher..SF Chron Critical of Trump …Gives Brown a Pass
AGENDA 21 RADIO
The Chronicle’s criticism of President Trump for not doing enough to support the firefighting and recovery effort in Northern California is absurd.
When California asked for federal aid, the request was fast-tracked by the President. Vice President Pence even visited the CalOES headquarters to announce the federal disaster declaration.
By rapidly responding to the emergency and dispatching VP Pence, the President did right by California. The President’s cooperation is in spite of the fact that state leaders continue to poke him in the eye every chance they get.
Editorial: California burns: Where’s the president?
Regardless, it would be nice if the Chronicle held our state leaders to the same standard.
The crisis at the Oroville Dam was the largest evacuation in state history, yet the Chronicle hasn’t criticized Governor Brown for failing to make a public appearance in the evacuation zone.
Please recognize that the devastating fires in Yuba and Butte Counties have taken lives as well. Have state leaders met the Chronicle’s standards for their efforts outside wine country? No, the Governor hasn’t bothered to visit this area.
Rather than trying to score cheap political points, the Chronicle should appreciate key federal actions and the massive response to these fires.
