Conditions: | Firefighters are continuing to establish and maintain control lines and reduce the threat of property damage. Evacuation orders and warnings are still in effect. The Wall Fire which started Friday July 7, 2017 near Oroville, CA has exploded from a few dozen acres to over 2700 acres. The fire which started at 2:50 pm pst was witnessed in it’s first 30 minutes by Paul Preston of Agenda 21 Radio from atop the tower at the Oroville Dam Visitors Center. Preston was doing a report on water levels at the Oroville Dam when the billowing smoke from the Wall Fire was witnessed at approximately 3:15 pm.
According to Nichole at Cal Fire as of 7:00 am pst July 9, 2017 the Wall Fire has consumed over 2700 acres, destroyed 10 homes, damaged 5 more homes and is 20% contained. Nichole stated there would be an update on the Wall Fire after a 9:00 am meeting with all the Cal Fire leaders.
Extreme Heat
At the time of the fire’s outbreak temperatures ranged from 108 to 113 degrees around the Oroville Dam area some 3-4 miles from the fire in Bangor.
