SACRAMENTO – Today, Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Tehama) and Assemblyman James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) sent a letter to Governor Jerry Brown and Natural Resources Secretary John Laird calling for the public release of preliminary spillway collapse findings. Below is an excerpt of the letter:

“It is our understanding that the Independent Forensic Review Team has reported a list of potential causes of the spillway failure to DWR and the BOC which will be used to help guide the recovery efforts.  We have been told that this report will not be released to the public.  Instead, a different memo will be drafted which will include feedback from DWR, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the BOC.

“We firmly believe that releasing the raw preliminary Independent Forensic Review Team documentation is necessary in order to build trust with the 200,000 residents who were evacuated during this crisis.”
