Life Saved! President Trump Pays Tribute

A teen lifeguard being hailed a hero for risking his life to save a 10-year-old boy from rough waves at a California beach met with President Donald Trump on Monday. 16-year-old Ryder Williams was welcomed to the Oval Office after saving the boy at Seabright State Beach on July 25.

What you did was incredible and everybody saw it," Trump said. In the Oval Office, along with Williams were his fellow lifeguard employees, his family and 10-year-old Nathaniel Rai, whom he rescued, and his father. Trump recognized Williams' parents and others who taught him selflessness and courage during the event.

He's a real hero. It's an amazing thing. And he's a real lucky guy, too. God was watching you, right?" Trump said. A reporter asked Williams about the rescue and what he felt as he went into the water. In those dangerous moments that we have, we always try to fall back on our training," Willaims said. "I was really just thinking about how I could get the boy out of the water as fast as I can."

Williams said that in the future he wants to go through paramedic school and become a firefighter. The daring rescue caught the eye of Trump's son Eric before Trump himself issued the official White House invitation for Williams to receive a "high civilian honor."
